Simply Delicious Apple Pie
2 - 12oz pkgs. frozen escalloped apples
1/4 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
2 TBSP flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 c. coffee cream
3 TBSP butter
2 - 8" frozen pie crusts
Defrost frozen apples overnight in the refrigerator. Or, place them in a baking dish in a preheated 300 degree oven for 10 - 15 mins. to thaw.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg & salt. Place one package of defrosted escalloped apples in bottom of pastry shell. Spread evenly. Sprinkle half of the sugar mixture over top of apples. Place other package of escalloped apples over first layer and cover with remaining sugar mixture. Dot with butter. Pour cream in center of mixture. Cover pie with crust and cut slashes in top to let steam escape. Trim and flute edges. Lightly brush top with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 mins. or until crust is golden brown.
