Choclate [sic] Shortcake

Preheat oven to 350.

In a large bowl, combine: 2 c. sifted cake flour and 2 c. sugar

Combine in a saucepan:   1 stick butter or margarine

                                         3 1/2 TBSP cocoa

                                         1 c. water

                                         1/2 c. Crisco

Melt and dissolve over medium heat.  

Pour over flour and sugar mixture.

Add:  1/2 c. buttermilk

          2 eggs

          1 tsp. soda

          1 tsp. vanilla

Bake 20 - 25 minutes at 350 in 13x 9x 2 inch pan.

SHORTCAKE ICING:

Dissolve in pan over medium heat:  1 stick margarine, 3 1/2 TBSP cocoa and 6 TBSP sweet milk.

Pour over 1 box confectioners sugar.

Mix well.  Add 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 c. nuts.

Pour over cake immediately.
