Frankfurter Puffs
I made this on the 4th of July. It was not impressive. The taste was okay but they just didn't present well.
I used Oscar Meyer Natural hot dogs.
I've never cooked hot dogs like this but it worked well.
Several weeks ago I needed to use up some potatoes I'd received in a pandemic food distribution so I made a whole lot of mashed potatoes and froze them in 1 1/2 c. jars. The recipe called for 2 c. but I had at least 1/2 c. left over. I mixed in parsley first and spread on one person's. Then I mixed in onion for the other two people.
As usual, I customized. One person likes mustard. I like honey mustard. One does not.
Even though I split them with a knife and pulled apart with my fingers the frankfurters kept snapping back together. I hoped the weight of the potatoes would keep them open but they didn't. Perhaps I should have completely separated the halves. Perhaps that is why I didn't use the full amount of potatoes.
This recipe just screamed out to me to be topped with grated cheese (for those that like it).
This recipe is credited to Marge Zuzel. I don't remember her but apparently my mom got several recipes from her.
