Sweet & Sour Meatballs

Sweet & Sour Meatballs

I've had similar things at parties and they are always tasty but I used this as a main dish and I really wasn't super impressed with it.  It's hard to know though if it was the sauce or the meatballs that made it just so-so.  Probably the meatballs - I'd never used the HEB Fully Cooked (frozen) meatballs and they tasted like they belonged on spaghetti and only spaghetti.

I gathered all the ingredients together.  I decided to use 3/4 c. chili sauce because that's what was left in the bottle in my fridge.  Of course, I used the same amount of jelly.  I used 5 oz of pineapple because I had a 20 oz. can.  The recipe said any size but I figured 20 oz is a common size and if that usually goes with 5 lbs. of meatballs than proportionately I should use 4 oz. of pineapple but then I felt like I'd seen a 5 oz. can of pineapple at the store so I went with that and use the other 15 oz. to make smoothies.

I heated the sauce and jelly on 4, stirring often, until the jelly was melted and they were well combined.  Then I added the pineapple and meatballs.
I was also cooking rice and thought it would be great if these were done at the same time.
I wasn't sure the meatballs would be warmed through since they were frozen so I put the lid on.  The pot simmered and I stirred occasionally, making sure the meatballs were submerged sufficiently.
